Dairy Board and Interbranch Organisation

The Dairy Board and Interbranch Organisation was established in 1992, since then this is the place of the agreement of the members' interests.

The aim of the Dairy Board and Interbranch Organisation (DBIO) is to harmonize the milk and milk product market by the participants of the dairy sector (milk producers, milk processors, traders and consumers) between the conditions of market economy. Under the limits of the provisions of law the DBIO co-operate with the Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development and its competent institutions, the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency and other organisations, which take part in the management and representation of interest of the dairy sector. The DBIO as the member of the Committee of Milk and Milk Product Sector of the Ministry represents the interests of the whole sector.

Membership

The membership of the DBIO is approximately 4.291 milk producers, 61 milk processors and 5 traders. The DBIO covers circa 75 % of the dairy sector concerning the milk quote and the purchased milk as well.

The membership is not obligatory (from 1st of May, 2004. - the Hungarian accession), any milk producer, milk purchaser, milk processor and trader can be member, who accept the Fundamental Rule of the Dairy Board and Interbranch Organisation. The DBIO is financed by the fee of the members.

Organisational structure

  • Delegated General Assembly

The supreme deciding organisation of the DBIO. The members vote their representatives in each county.

  • Presidency

Operative organisation, which possesses sphere of authority of make a decision between two meetings of the Delegated General Assembly. The President is the head of the Presidency. The General Assembly vote the Presidency and the presidency choose the president by voting.

  • Secretariat

Managing organisation. The Secretary is the head of the Secretariat.

  • Committees

Main tasks

  • decision-preparating, taking opinion on national laws and regulations,
  • gathering, analysing and presenting data relating to the dairy sector, both in Hungary and abroad,
  • preparation of industry statistics,
  • quality control, protection of Hungarian dairy products with monitoring and prosecuting of ineligible (quality, packaging, labelling etc.) products,
  • general consultancy,
  • coordination of school-milk programme and a country-wide education campaign at schools,
  • representation and harmonisation of interest between the Hungarian dairy farmers and processors,
  • stimulation of consumption of milk and milk products by common marketing activities.
 
 
A Tej Szakmaközi Szervezet és Terméktanács az egyesülési jogról szóló 1989. évi II. törvény, továbbá az agrárpiaci rendtartásról szóló 2003. évi XVI. törvény alapján alakult, nem nyereség érdekelt, önálló jogi személyiséggel rendelkező társadalmi szervezet, amely szakmaközi szervezetként fejti ki tevékenységét.
